NAVIGATIONAL AUDIT

Simple navigational errors, oversights, and malpractices have continued to lead to often avoidable accidents and incidents causing loss of lives, and damages to ships, property, and the environment.

The lapse in continuous training and the familiarisation of shipboard personnel with the various array of navigational equipment, in addition to the modern complexities of the integrated bridge layouts, enhances the chances of navigational accidents.

An effective, constantly reviewed, company and vessel-specific set of procedures are the industry-proven approaches to the safe conduct of Navigation.

Our experienced Auditors will conduct a thorough Navigational Audit at the owner's request to ascertain the level of each vessel's navigation practice in compliance with the Company's Nautical Procedures in the SMS. The strength of the Company's Nautical Procedures can also be reviewed against relevant industry standards.

These audits will proactively raise crew awareness, identify, and rectify the navigational deficiencies to drastically reduce and avoid any Navigation-related accidents or incidents.

A dynamic & static audit will be carried out to verify the response of the bridge team during different navigational situations. Highlighting the positives and negatives, while giving the Company and vessel clear recommendations for continuous improvement. Own checklist format (adjusted to vessel requirement) or provided format can be used

We can supply our own format adjusted to the circumstances of the audit, or follow a specified/provided format.

REMOTE NAVIGATIONAL ASSESSMENT + VDR AUDIT

When required, Remote Navigation Audits can be performed by our trained independent auditor through an analysis of documentation sent by the vessel to ensure that the correct procedures are being followed on board.

VDR ANALYSIS is conducted (depending on data extracted from VDR or SVDR onboard the vessel) to analyze Human Elements and Situational Awareness, the discipline and actual performance of the bridge team covering different phases of Navigation, as quality control checks relating to:

  • Accident investigation
  • Bridge Team Training
  • Promoting best practices and accident prevention
  • Assessment of response to safety and environmental emergencies
  • Reduction in insurance losses (Safety at sea, 2001).

    ISM-ISPS-MLC AUDIT

We conduct ISM, MLC, and ISPS Audits to bring awareness of the compliance level of various company procedures to the vessel's top management. We can also prepare ship staff for external (Port / Flag / Class) audits. Findings can be presented in the company-specific format or using our forms.

      Mooring / Anchoring operations Audit

The current established procedures, operational practices are audited toward industry standards and best practices to gauge compliance. Generally, the audit process covers the familiarization of the crew with the vessel equipment and machineries, team experience level as displayed in the leadership and cooperation of the team, leading to the proper appraisal, awareness, planning of related tasks.

Also evaluated are the conditions and verification of the quantity of the Mooring and Anchoring equipment in compliance with international requirement

A recommendation is provided to vessel and management on the most effective practices while pointing out the limitations of the mooring and anchoring equipment.

Dynamic Audit and Training can also be carried out as required.

COMPETENCY ASSURANCE PROGRAM FOR SEAFARERS AND SHORE-BASED PERSONNEL

The level of personnel competency (technical and non-technical skills) not matching the expected operational safety standards is a contributing factor affecting leadership, management, teamwork, decision-making, and effective communications among seafarers and shore-based personnel.

Behavior and attitude to continual 'personal development' are essential to the continuous improvement of safety management and safety culture.
